FAQ's

Why are perfumes not always vegan?

Fragrance manufacturers don't need to declare what goes into your perfume so you can unknowingly be applying animal products on to your skin that are very commonly used in perfumery!

Examples include:

Ambergris: Originates from sperm whale digestive secretions. In perfumery its used as a fixative to make perfumes last longer.  It has a sweet, musky odour with
strong notes of wood, moss and amber.

Castoreum: Is extracted from the castor sacs of beavers. Beavers were caught and killed for this perfume extract, which has a
musky, sweet, leathery scent evocative of fine leather upholstery in classic
leather-themed perfumes.  It also adds a spicy, ambery note as well as providing fixation.

Civet: An African cat-like animal, a Civet’s excretions are collected for use in perfumery to create a musky, velvety, floral, sweet scent.

Musk: Taken from a male musk deer, the odour is obtained from glands.  It imparts a complex
yet sweet, aromatic odour and brings a ‘radiance’ to the scent.

Honey: Some perfumes contain beeswax or honey, its used to bring a roundness to fruity or floral compositions.

Hyraceum: Derived from the dried excretion of the rock
hyrax, a mammal that closely resembles a large guinea pig.  It gives a ‘dirty’ note to perfumes that are too sweet or too fresh and is a fixative.

Many animal derived ingredients
have synthetic and plant derived alternatives but many companies still continue to use the animal derived ingredients.  While
synthetics may be able to match the aroma of animal materials they can’t replicate the complexity, the odour profile and the way these ingredients function within a formula or the effect they give to the end product.  The complex odour profile and effects cannot be duplicated in a lab.  Hence, many large fragrance houses do not change their formulas.

All of our products are completely free of animal derived ingredients.  Not
only this but we also don’t use any animal derived by-products in our formulations either.

Where can I apply your fragrance oils?

They can be applied on your wrists, neck, behind the ears, these palces are otherwise known as pulse points however all our fragrances are perfectly safe to apply anywhere on the skin except the eyes and mouth areas

Some of the darker ouds may leave a tint on the skin but just rub it in and it will dissapear.

How long do your fragrances last?

Our fragrance sprays are much more concentrated than EDP, EDT and cologne sprays at a concentration of 30-35% they are parfum extraits. Parfum extraits contain the highest concentration of fragrant ingredients and last much longer than EDP's, EDT's and colognes.

Our fragrance oils are much more highly concentrated so a little goes a long way.

On skin you can expect the fragrance longevity to be about a day or two depending on skin, weather, humidity and other factors.

If the scent is applied onto an inconspicous areas of clothing (such as the inner sleeve or inside the collar) then you can expect the scent to last from a few days to a few weeks!
